started on the sliders , I found a set on Gold Country CL awhile back and the price was right,, they were originally bolt on style... :?
but with the flick of the cut off wheel switch, I took care of that issue... :P :P
I found some 1 3/4 o.d tube for the legs to the frame,, and will use some 3" wide 90* angle plates to weld to the frame, borrowed Sean's JD-2 tubing notcher and cut a few 1.5" holes..

wasnt satified with just the standard tube sliders,
So I dug out some tube a friend gave me of his attempt to build sliders with his new bender, he ended up selling the rig, I ended up with the partially built sliders.. 8)

So I cut them up and built some extra-cab corner protectors
always nice to recycle....

A special THANKS to this years tax return and a very understanding wife... 8)

I really needed some round tires.... :? :?
the ones I had were basically for mock up to see how the axles and lift were going to work out,

So after cruising the interweb.. I located a cool guy in Reno off CL, who has several sets of GoodYear MTR-Kevlars left over from his shop move in Las Vegas (I think he still has some BIGGER MTR-K tires,, and a few sets of old tread style (NEW) 12.5x15x37 mtr's

so today Karen and I made the trek over the hill and bought 4 brand new(build date 4/12) 14.5x38.5x17 MTR's and the guy threw the 5th in for free (It is also new, but has a scar on the sidewall from a fork lift) total price for the 5............. $1600

and I found a wheel place in NM that had a set of 4 Raceline Renegade 8's (17x9 8 on 6.5 lug pattern) all 4 shipped for......$449.00

total savings on the tires and wheels from retail prices..... $923.00... 8) 8) 8) 8)

soo someday I will actually get this rig out and see how it does...........

Nice sneakers. Whats the plan for the old tires, I am possibly looking for some to mock up my build. Either to buy if the price is right or take on loan.

Saturday 3/22 was the official maiden voyage of the Honey Badger hitting the trail..... 8)

I only seemed to loose a little bit of power heading up the freeway with the 38's (compared to the worn 37's which only measured out to be 35" tall) I had to shift from 5th to 4th 4 times from Weimar to Eagle Lakes exit and when in 4th still held 70mph up the grades...... 8) 8) gotta love that 3.4 power.!!! 8) 8)

Will in his 4Runner and myself met up with the AJC club and we wheeled in

unfortunately Will had a couple of issues (bent front driveline, which didnt stop him,, but the shattered right side Birfield did.... ),, so we only made it to the rock cropping between the 2 side hill repairs at Sunrise Ridge,, the Jeep Club all had to take the far left side around the rocks, due to them being very slippery, Will had to be winched up and over due to only having 2wd,, The Honey badger took the far right side and (not to be boasting)....o.k. well a little...  idled up and over it

at that point we got Will turned around and we headed back,, we had his Long Fields (which he forgot to bring) installed up at his house by 4pm

all in all it was a good trip I bypassed Driveline this time so i could just get a handle on how everything was going to work,

only issues were:
front left spring fanned the leafs out and made it hard to turn left with tearing into the tire sidewall(the center bolt was good and tight), just needed to have another sporing clip added

I scratched some of the paint under my sliders..........
