So serious question. Why is the body lift still on there?

the tub was cut up and modified. not as easy as just pulling the body lift off. thought about it. didmt seem like it was worth the 3".

I would think it's worth it. It's top heavy expecially with the top on. But that's just me.

Actually the tub was not cut up at all.
Just the tranny hump was lowered and the sliders were lifted.
Since the sliders are gone now, it would only take aprox 18 minutes to remove the lowered trans hump .. 8)

maybe yes it would be worth it. but combination of only 3", wheeled fine before with the body lift, lack of time, and kinda a shitty time constraint trade deal for the tube work means it wasnt worth it. im not doing a full exo. all the added weight will be low

Update, went by the shop today to see about pulling the body lift off. Theres quite a bit more that would need to be changed besides the tranny hump. Oh well. Guess I'll have to do a drivetrain lift like the flamer had on it at some point... Anyway heres a few photos of the new drop box that got installed over the weekend

Ever start a project and change the plan part way into it? I did. body lift is coming off, front crossmember is getting a 2"x2" 120 wall square tube and plating over all the old cracks and repairs. Transmission tunnel is getting rebuilt. and these super odd re location brackets from the previous owner are being changed. at least the one in the rear case. fenders are getting cut for clearance, front BDS springs are getting swapped to stock rears. pushing the front end an additional 3" forward and dropping the ride height 2"-3". plus the 3" body lift being gone I am hoping to drop the hole rig almost 6". we will see. at this point I could have sold the tacoma and 4runner and boughy a real nice complete rig but that wouldnt be any fun!

It will never drive under it's own power again. Atleast we are organizing a swap meet so you can part it out.

Maybe Reno Cycle and Gear could give us some flyers to hand out to promote their SXS business..(not that they need it, selling up to 20 RZR's a month is pretty good..!!!)

Oop's did I say that out loud.......

Back to the post..

Looking good.. 8) , I'm guessing you are adding your personal touch to it (although it wheeled awesome before), it's good to call it your own now

did you ever decide on which rear disc brake kit you are going to go with,?, hurry up so I can use you as a test monkey to see if that's what I want to do...Ha Ha..
** (kind off leaning towards Trail Tough, because I would only need the brackets, since I already have all the solid axle brakes from the donor 81' axle)

haha if we wanted sxs support Trevor in Elk Grove would probably help us out. he is where I bought the gooseneck from.

as for my build yeah I am trying to change it up. theres a real nice 1st get linked on tons for 10k right now. I almost wish I would have just sold both rigs and bought something. it would have been easier but not nearly as fun...

Rear disks I haven't decided yet. I was leaning toward the trail tough because I already have the parts as well. what I don't like is you have to press the caliper on and off where the trail gear kit drops over the axle like the front. except I am trying to minimize the trail gear parts I buy.... sky off road has a kit that you have to go find GM calipers for. so I don't know. for the sake of a trail repair you could carry a stock shaft with a pre pressed bearing for the trail gear kit and change it pretty easy. the trail tough kit you are kinda screwed. but who breaks rear shafts besides Beau anyway... thats where I'm at.

Racelines finally came in today! thank you Sexton Offroad. great guys if you guys need parts. or bronco stuff.... anyway got 3 mounted today. takes about 2.5 beers a wheel. its also helpful when your 4 legged helper doesnt take your torque wrench and go running through the goat pasture with it.... went with the 17x9.5 with 4" or -32mm offset. not the wheels I thoughy I ordered visually but the deal was too good to really care.
